So I need people to remind me....luckily this morning my mum remind me about my kakak birthday..so I ( and also on behalf of Lin) would like to wish my beloved kakak happy birthday and may Allah bless you. About my kakak, I'm very close with her, she's my enemy and she's also my friend....ekekeke. I can't denied that she is the best kakak..err by the way she's the only kakak..eheheh. Who am I today is part and parcel of her influence, for her best example especially in academic... upsr/penilaian darjah 5, PMR/SRP, SPM, degree, master....I do believe as a sister or brother, we should set a good example to our adik-adik...somehow it will infuence and expose them to the importance of life. Thanks to my big sis!!!

Most probably that was the last time we celebrated raya at my sis house…the house is already put up for sell. They already bought a new house which is very near to my parents and her in laws. The new house was ready but they might just stuff their furniture and all their good since they planned to be away for 3 years starting the end of this year. At my sis, a part of all the cakes, we are served with lodeh and satay.... by the way that is the photo of my nephew..very mischievous and super active boy...lady in pink is my younger sis, lady in blue is my youngest sis and lady in yellow is my beloved mum.....ahaks

Endoscopy Suite, Normah Medical Specialist centre, Kuching SarawakTuesday, October 23, 2007
I met Kasawari on the way back to Kuching. I went back through Singapore from Perth and then I took another flight to Kuching at 6.05 pm. I need to go to the boarding gate at 5.30 pm and luckily Kasawari and his family arrived early and if not I will missed the chance to meet them. It just a short meeting and it was the first time I met blogger. Ammar and Aiman are very cute…and Ammar was very mischievous ekkekeke..see his action in the photo. Thanks for the pineapple tarts, my favourite biscuit..uhuhu.
When I arrived in Kuching, my brother picked me up at the airport. We supposed to go to my sis house because she invited my parents and family for break fasting and also to celebrate in my ‘homecoming’. Since I arrived a bit late, my mum already went to visit my aunty on her way home. So, we changed the plan and my brother drove me to my parent’s house straight away. I arrived first then my mum. She was very shocked to see me at home..ekekkekeke…I hugged her and then I distributed all the presents for my parents, sisters and my only brother. That night we slept pretty late. I had the ‘sembang’ session till late mid night. This is kind of tradition…when we are away for a long time and return home, we will have a long conversation and pick up whatever story that we miss when we are away…

Next year, we can not celebrate with complete family members because my sister and her family will be away too. Anyway...It will be a big suprise for my parents because they don't know about me coming home...shhhsss keep it a secret ok! So, I would like to wish you all;

Victoria Park, Western Australia
Murdoch, Western AustraliaAfter working on Sunday morning (before the month of ramadhan) a friend of mine picked me up at home. We had an invitation from a friend in Murdoch. We planned to visit them many times but keep on postponed due to other commitments. But recently during the Merdeka Fest they had invited us again. So we made it this time. On the way, we stopped to buy drinks since I had no time to prepare anything. We thought just both of us but there were other three family as well. Goshhh..I'm not really close to all of them.....what an akward situation..uhuhuhu!!! I considered myself as social handicapped unless I know the person. It wasn' that bad but I tend to be a little bit quiet. I wouldn't talked much then.... Maybe there were so many people and I didn't know how to join them...uhhuhuhu...so I just smiled and rather become a listener. The food served was very good. There were mi siam, laksa terengganu and capati with spinach chicken curry. It was my first time to eat mi siam.. I don't know much about mi siam but i guessed it from siam.... ahaks..

Frementle, Western AustraliaI met my colleague this morning. She told me that her supervisor allowed her to pray during her shift and she even suggested a few places that she can perform her prayer. When she got the job offer earlier, she did ask me about this matter. As for man, it’s much easier for me to pray and it wouldn’t take long and in fact my shift this time allowed me to pray at home or mussola. There is no clashed since I’m not on duty before Zuhur till after Asar or before Asar till after Margrib. Even on Friday I told my supervisor that I couldn’t work between 12 till 3 because I need to go for Friday prayer. So I asked her to explain to her supervisor about the matter. She did and the response was very positive. What I’m trying to highlight here, I’m very glad that non-Muslim aware of our duty to Allah. They are very positive and open about it. Thats why I’m very proud to share with my supervisor about Islam. He’s very curious about it and asked a few question regarding it. For me it’s a form of dakwah, to introduce Islam to non-Muslim. At least now he knows that Muslim people need to pray 5 times and they also need to fast during the Ramadhan. I told my friend, at least she set the precedent, so in the future it will much easier for other Muslim to work in this organization At least the employer are well aware about our duty and with the hope that they will make it easy for us. On the other side, I heard my friend told me there is a few cases in Malaysia where the Muslim people are in difficulties to pray during their working hours. This is ridiculous, Malaysia as a Muslim country (even many people argue about it) still facing this kind of issues. I believed we must fight for our right wherever we are. For example before in Malaysia, TV presenter was not allowed to wear headscarf but at least now they are open about it. This regulation is all set by human so we can change it whenever we want….right! My experienced living in western countries so far alhamdulilah..Allah makes it easy for me. I used to pray on the parking lot, on the park, on the bus station and everywhere…. I bet most of us who used to live in Western Countries did experience the same thing. And of course it easy for man like me, but for women they really need to find a place which is a bit isolated. Lin told me as for women, they are very shy if people see their movement during the prayer. That’s why women are encouraged to wear suitable dress (loose and long dress) so it will be easier for them to perform their prayer everywhere. Ahakss...try not to talk about food...uhuhu but I can foresee food is always an interesting topic to discuss..ehehe

Victoria Park, Western AustraliaYesterday, we decided to break fast at one of the Indonesian Restaurant which is not far from my house. We supposed to go with our Indonesian friends but unfortunately they can't make it. So my friend and I just proceed with the plan. Then, only on this coming wedneday we will breakfast with our Indonesian friends. But we haven't decided the place, but there's a few choices available..so just wait and see. Yesterday we ordered fried watercrest (kangkung goreng belacan), deep fried beef (daging empal), omelet, and roasted fish with sambal belacan. Ummm, it was really good. It had been a long time to have proper food like this..uhuhuhu. But it did cost us an arm and a leg...about AUD$33…ahaks... Ohh, forgot to mention that I had ordered ais cendol too...nice nice nice...

We may note that the Sunnah commends dates for the breaking of the fast in Ramadhan. The great worth of dates is also indicated in a famous and beautiful passage of the Qur'an, surah Maryam, verses 25-6:
Personally I don't really like dates because it’s too sweet but I do take it for break fast. Every year, my dad will buy dates for Ramadhan...well its kind of a long established custom in my family. So, during the breakfast, dates will be always on the table. He likes date and as for me, I don't really into it. I think fresh dates suit me better, it’s not too sweet. For this Ramadhan, I'm totally forgotten about dates till a friend of mine gave me a box of it. JazakaAllah khir to my friend!!! So, there is no reason for not taking dates for breaking fast..ahaks…

Tarawih
Tarawih at Mussola, Bentley (video clip after 8 rakaat)
What a hectic day...after finishing my shift this afternoon, a friend of mine had introduced me to brother Wassim, a Jordanian. He just arrived in Perth and had been looking for temporary accommodation. Right after lunch (we had our lunch at Sahara Café, an Indian restaurant) we went to look for YMCA in Perth city. I know there is one cheap YMCA but usually it is fully book. You really need to book at least 1 week earlier. We just walked in and he' was very lucky to get the room…only one room left at that time. It cost him AUD$39 per night but after student discount he only pay for AUD$31. Then we went to Riverdale to pick his baggage and send it back to the YMCA. After that we rushed back to Bentley to perform our Margrib prayer. He asked us to leave him at the mussola since he managed to contact his friend. So, I just leaved my mobile number in case he needs any help later. After Margrib I decided to stay for Tarawih. There was a little confusion because some people said that Ramadhan will start tomorrow and some people argue that it will be on Friday. So after Isya, the mussola committee made an announcement saying that we will start fasting tomorrow. So, I continued with Tarawih but I was only performed 8 rakaat……uhuhuhu ..Can’t afford to do 20..ahaksss... opsss I just received an email from the President of CMSA while writing this entry to confirm that we will start fasting tomorrow;
As-Salamu ^Alaykum Brothers and sisters in Islam. Today is the 30th ofSha^ban and hence tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan. There is a bitof debate as to whether today is the 30th or not. I know from mycolleagues in the eastern states who have released a prayer calendarrecently that today, according to them is the 30th of sha^ban and Iknow that Saudi also is in the 30th of sha^ban so my self I cannotargue with this and Insha-'Allah tomorrow will be Ramadan. And I alsoknow that the majority of the Islamic countries are also fasting onthursday. Ramadan Kareem to everybody and Insha-Allah I will see youall at the Iftar tomorrow night at the Mushalla. Me riding a camel, Cairo EgyptMarhaban ya Ramadhan…it's just round the corner… we will be in the month which is full with barakah. Somehow Ramadhan remind me of my visit to Cairo during the month of Ramadhan few years back. I went there with my Libyan friend named Khalifah. We decided not to join any package since he speaks Arabic. Before I went to Cairo, I have different kind of perception about this capital city of Egypt. This is due to Al Azhar University, world-renowned for its position as a center of Islamic scholarship and education. There are a lot of our religious scholars graduated from here. But when I arrived in Cairo, then I can see the true color of Cairo which is not up to my expectation. I experienced it all, taking the public bus up to the taxi, but most of (not all) the public are not civilized enough. When we were on the cab, the taxi driver tries to cheat us. Luckily Khalifah was aware of this and he argued with the taxi driver. When we ride the camel, the same thing happened. The camel operator tried to cheat us. Khalifah did quarrel with them and at last he reported to the police. I’m so scared at that time and I told Khalifah its ok with the money. But he told me we can’t just let them go but teach them a good lesson. At last we managed to get our money back. The worst thing is that when they cheat, they just simple swear with the name of Allah..Wallahi! Wallahi! (I swear to Allah). That’s terrible!! I don’t make any blanket rule here, but this is based on my experience. Not all of them are acting like a moron. Surely there are always good and bad people. If all are good people then we don’t need any police institution or court jurisdiction at all right…uhhuhuhu. A part from this, Cairo is a good place to visit. Just join the tour group which is better and safe, everything is arranged for you. I’m so excited to see the pyramid and sphinx. The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the seven wonders. We also had an opportunity to visit the Masjid of Muhammad Ali in the Citadel of Salahideen in Old Cairo. Don’t forget the museum to see the mummy. The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities (Egyptian Museum) is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world.
Man fears Time, yet Time fears the Pyramids
Arab proverb
I told Lin that I really want to experience the fasting month in Makkah. InsyaAllah after I settle all my unfinished business, then I will arrange for the trip. Hope Allah will grant me a good health and prosperity to see more …..the other side of the world!

Araluen, Western AustraliaIt's Yates Springtime at Araluen, one of Western Australia's premier gardening events and you're invited to come and marvel at the splendid array of vibrant Spring blooms that will be on show.
Indulge in the spectacular display of over 100,000 tulips as well as other spring blooms in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
There'll be daffodils, Jonquils, Azaleas, Camellias, Rhododendrons, Magnolias, Lilacs and of course, the renowned Tulip display.
I went to Araluen with my three other friends. It was a last minute plan. Actually our Indonesian friends already informed us earlier about Yates springtime at Araluen, but none of us can confirm. I’m very busy with so many things and all those medical follow up. A friend text me again yesterday and informed me that Araluen is only a short distance which is less than 1 hour. So, we decided to go this morning. It’s worth it to see all those colourful scenery and lots of people. The entrance fee is only AUD$7 per head. We took lots of photo especially with tulips. What a “mat bunga” today..ahaksss! Araluen – an Eastern States aboriginal world meaning “singing waters”, “running waters” or “place of lilies”. Click here for more photos...

Bentley, Western AustraliaI went to work a bit early this morning. I didn't realise the fact that I’m early only when I reached the car park. There were only small numbers of cars. Usually I need to make a few rounds before I managed to get the parking. Today is not a public holiday in Western Australia and hell its definitely not an Independent day (merdeka! merdeka! merdeka!)....uhuhuhu..Then I checked my watch, its not even 8 am, no wonder! What an early bird. While marching to my workplace, my brain started to compute the suitable activities to do while waiting for my shift. I decided to check my emails and read news online. Well, today was quite boring, not much queries and not much work to deal with. After finishing my work, I grabbed some lunch (beef stew, vegetables and plain rice). Then I went straight to the Health Centre. They did take another blood sample yesterday. It's not the same nurse so I can feel the pain. Unlike the previous nurse..uhuhuhu.. I missed her! It’s not that painful but only the exaggerated feeling! Today I made it on time in fact I’m early for the appointment (learn from the lesson!!! No more Malaysian time). Once the doctor called me in and ushered me for the seat, he explained the result to me. I passed all the tests except 1 test. Another two tests I’m doing ok, nothing to worry about but another test I need to repeat. Iskkk..feel like sitting for the exam..pass, fail and repeat...uhuuhuhu. He made an early appointment for me on Monday morning next week. But I do believe I will pass the repeat test because I’m "clever enough"...ahahaha...missed old good days when I did my undergrad..life full with tests, assignments, exams.. I like assignment but not exam. Assignment is something that you are fully incharge..you can do like there's no tomorrow to get the best result. But when it comes to exam or test, there are many external factors influence your performance. For instances your nervousness can affect your performance. You can’t give your best!! After all the hassle with the work and the health things, I went to Jumaah prayer. The khutbah today is about fasting..marhaban ya Ramadhan. Few points I would like to share;
The month of Ramadan is an opportunity to develop qualities of endurance and self-restraint, to control anger and a fiery or malicious tongue
"The strong man is in fact the person who controls himself at the time of anger."

Technology Park, Bentley Western AustraliaHi I’m looking for arsaili, I’m XXXX calling from Health Service Centre. Please call me back at XXXXXXX and speak to myself or any available nurses. Thank you.
“Umm, this must be related to the blood and urine test”, I told myself. So fast, I thought i will only get the result by thursday nextweek!. I rang back and spoke to the nurse. After asking for my identification – full name and date of birth, she told me about the result. The blood test is not good so I need to come and see the doctor for further details. She did explain to me but my brain was not functioning properly at that time. Uhuhuhu..absent minded syndrome. What am I going to explain to Lin later..aiyoyoyo…I don’t even know the details. Its ok, just wait till I see the doctor on Friday at 12.15 pm. Then I will get all the details. This time around I will make sure I wouldn’t miss my appointment again! Iskkk..not in the working mood, but I need to finish the “checklist things”…assignment from my sensei. To do or not to do…to do or not to do…lalalalala!

Australian Islamic College, Kewdale Western AustraliaSubject: Pre-Ramadan Islamic Bazaar this weekend
Assalamu Alaikum IBC - Islamic Books & Clothing from Melbourne are coming to Perth for one weekend only to hold an Islamic Bazaar. We have literally picked up our shop in Melbourne.....................
When: Sat August 18th & Sun August 19th
Where: The Gymnasium at AIC Kewdale President Street, Kewdale
Time: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Who: Everybody is Welcome
#Excerpted from the email send by info@islam-australia.net
Last two week, I went to Pre Ramadhan Islamic Bazaar with a friend. At first we thought Kewdale is very far, but on the day we want to go, I found out its not really far from my house...heck...just wasting my energy to think about where to pray, where to buy halal lunch etc... it is on the way to Belmont Shopping centre. I drove pretty confidence since I'm familiar with the main road and there is also a detail map that I bought. The best thing in this country, the layout of the road is very systematic. You just need to count how many junction or traffic light as a guide and it will lead you to your destination. The problem occurred when we reached the Australian Islamic College (AIC). At the main entrance, there is no sign or banner about this event. There is not even a single car there. They must be kidding if they assumed all people would know where the gymnasium is. I checked at the back entrance on the left wing but there was no crowd at all. I drove back to the main entrance. By then there were 2 cars on the parking lot. So, my friend asked one of the lady drivers if she got any idea where is the event taking place. She's also on the same boat. So, I decided to drive and check the right wing. At last I found it. It is not near to drive from one end to another end, from one wing to another wing. This is very lousy promotional technique, arrrgggh!!!. When we entered the building, there were lots of items available especially the Islamic books. When I just about to do the cruising, I heard the adzan zohor. So, I decided to join the jamaah which was held outside the gymnasium but still in the building. After the prayer I continued with the cruising and I found 3 interesting books. There are quite expensive but it should be ok. You can't compare dollar to ringgit right... But the worst thing is that, all that 3 books are still intact on my bookshelf. There are endless list of books I would love to read. But I'm so busy with my work and project...maybe later when I'm in the stress mode and my brain are saturated with works and project, then I will pick one of the book from the list. I think the bestseller novel by John Grisham is at the top rank of my list at this point of time.

Rotness Island, Western AustraliaWhat Rat? Not Rat?
After frequently seeing what they believed to be rats, Dutch voyagers named this island Rottnest (Rats nest). In fact the rats were quokkas, the pouched mammal almost exclusively found on the island and its unofficial mascot.
Quokka belongs to the same family of kangaroo - the marsupial mammal. This herbivore creature is very welcoming. When we were in the island, we can saw a lot of them. At first I feel a bit reluctant to be in close proximity with this creature because it reminds me of a rat. But when I saw her (I assumed it is a female quokka), the way she moves and acts make me fascinated. It’s nothing like rat and so cute indeed. I fed her with the bread and hey look.. the way she eat...just like human.

I had really late dinner last Sunday. I was fall asleep and when I got up it’s almost 10 pm. I can hear the pleasant sound of a growling stomach …I guess my stomach started to play a beautiful song call “keroncong buat Ana”…but the sad thing is that there was no food for dinner (uwaaa sedih sey). I’m so lazy to cook in the middle of the night. Well actually I don’t want to disturb my neighbour next door. The wall is very poor sound proof insulation…but I had no choice. I’m “hungry like a horse”..so I decided to cook egg sauce bihun, simple and fast recipe (for lazy people like me). I tried my best to minimise the sound effect and you can imagine how polite I am that night. If not you can hear all the utensils kind of flying here and there. While chatting with Uncle J, I managed to prepare my dinner..ehehe..I told him that I’m “killing two birds with one stone”. Let me share the recipe….
*Heat 2 spoon of cooking oil in wok
*Stir fry garlic and onion till yellowish
*Add some water
*Add corn flour (which already dilute in water)
*Add fish sauce, oyster sauce and soy sauce
*Put squid and fish ball
*Put carrot and pak choi
*a pinch of salt
*at last, put egg and stir
I never measure anything, so all measurements are approximate and should be adjusted based on your taste.
Then serve with bihun…walla!!!!!

Technology Park, BentleyI don’t feel happy today with my work. Maybe I’m stress with the new working schedule. It keeps on changing and it’s hard for me to settle. Once you are at your comfort zone there will be a resistance to change. Another issue is the working values. I don’t know, working in this country is totally different when I was in UK. You can’t denied the fact that “lain padang lain belalang, lain ikan lain lubuknya” or something like “to live and let live”. In whatever situation, we need to learn how to adapt well. I’m trying my best but it wouldn’t give me any satisfaction.....till the clashed of my personal values with the working values resolved.
"It’s time we stopped putting up with unhappy workplaces and bad bosses. Unhappiness at work is not a minor annoyance. It makes us tired, stressed and negative. Worst case, it makes us sick or kills us. Being happy at work makes you more energetic, productive, motivated, creative and successful. That is what we need more of. That is how we will work from now on" - Alexander Kjerulf

French cutlets, roasted potatoes, grilled mushroom and tomatoes
Eating is one of my favourite activities. Well of course people need to eat. But I think I have extra passion for food. Err …maybe I can be considered as one of the gastronomist. But the irony is that my body maintain like a plank of wood. Well, nothing surprise at all because I’m not a healthy child anyway.. My weight dropped after undergoing major operation about 10 years ago. Ever since my weight just increased a few kgs till now. I have lots of advise from friends and relatives…you should eat a lot bla..bla..bla… but its only my closed family knows who am I..the food monster. My big sister used to warn me to watch my diet because she worried I took a lot of food with high cholesterol. People always relate the high cholesterol with big size but it is totally wrong. Even slim people also facing the same problem… When I lived abroad for almost 5 years, what I missed most is my mum’s cooking and Malaysian food. I think by then I started to appreciate my own country and lot of my friends agree with me. Well this is the most common issues shared by Malaysian living abroad. “Anywhere is always lesser than one's homeland, no matter how lacking it can be”…. or 'Hujan emas di negeri orang , hujan batu di negeri sendiri, baik lagi negeri sendiri…' At the beginning, it so difficult...I’m lousy in cooking but for survival cooking skill is a must. I cannot eat kebab all the time because my ‘Malaysian stomach’ need rice and Malaysian food. Thanks to technology, with the help of internet, I can access to lot of recipe and from there on I keep on trying all different kind of recipes. My mum help me a lot, she is my call center. As time goes by, my skill is getting better. When I returned to Malaysia, I was pampered by my mum, all the stalls and restaurants. Easy access to foods and busy with works make me full time gastronomist rather then a ‘chef’. The lazy syndrome develops faster than anything, so I just cook once in a while…and I found out most of my skill tarnished. There is a lot of recipe that I used to remember by heart, now all gone. I don’t expect that I will be away from Malaysia for another longer period, so now I start all over again. It’s not too bad though, I just need to polish a bit here and there to improve my cooking skill. When I’m writing this entry, it does remind me of arwah Zul. The colon cancer that took his life.. .kind of alert me to watch my diet and “eating by colour”. Eats balance diet with more vegetables and less red meat will help.

Rotness Island, Western AustraliaAlhamdulilah!!!!! one hurdle down, more to come. I’m done with my candidacy after struggling with sweat and pain. The presentation in front of the professor, associate professor, senior lecturers and friends took almost 1 hour including Q&A session. The session also reached lecturer in another campus with teleconferencing. I started my presentation with no emotion and butterflies in my stomach all flew away. I regain my confidence with the supports from the member of the floor. In this country, people are really helps when it comes to presentation. The best underlying principle is that they really want to help by giving brilliant suggestion not CONDENMING. The same scenario also happens in UK. I still clearly remember during my viva session when I was in UK few years back. Two professor from other university (external Examiner) and 1 internal examiner created a relax and friendly moment of time for me when I hardly can’t sleep the night before facing the stomach churning so call viva. They really help to cool me down and I can be myself to defend my thesis up to my knowledge with no interference of nervousness. Anyway, it is such a big relief after the candidacy. My supervisor said she’s happy with my presentation and I can celebrate…but “don’t get yourself drunk”! I just smiled and deep down I want to explain that as a Muslim, I don’t take alcohol at all. I did celebrate but with my friends at one of the Malay restaurant.
